چکیده

A block lower-upper symmetric Gauss-Seidel (BLU-SGS) implicit dual time-stepping method is developed for moving body problems with hybrid dynamic grids. To simulate flows over complex configurations, a hybrid grid method is adopted in this paper. Body-fitted quadrilateral (quad) grids are generated first near solid bodies. An adaptive Cartesian mesh is then generated to cover the entire computational domain. Cartesian cells which overlap the quad grids are removed from the computational domain, and a gap is produced between the quad grids and the adaptive Cartesian grid. Finally triangular grids are used to fill this gap. With the motion of moving bodies, the quad grids move with the bodies, while the adaptive Cartesian grid remains stationary. Meanwhile, the triangular grids are deformed according to the motion of solid bodies with a ‘spring’ analogy approach. If the triangular grids become too skewed, or the adaptive Cartesian grid crosses into the quad grids, the triangular grids are regenerated. Then the flow solution is interpolated from the old to the new grid. The fully implicit equation is solved using a dual time-stepping solver. A Godunov-type scheme with Roe’s flux splitting is used to compute the inviscid flux. Several sub-iteration schemes are investigated in this study. Both supersonic and transonic unsteady cases are tested to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the method. † Visiting Scholar, Computational Aerodynamics Institute, China Aerodynamics Research and Development Center, P. An Efficient Implementation of Implicit Operator for Block Lu-sgs Method

An efficient implementation technique of a block matrix implicit operator based on van Leer’s FVS scheme is proposed for the LU-SGS method on unstructured meshes. The off-diagonal terms of the linear system of equations were approximated by the increment of the numerical flux using the point-by-point splitting feature of FVS schemes. The present improved LU-SGS method provides better performanc...

A New Implicit Dissipation Term for Solving 3D Euler Equations on Unstructured Grids by GMRES+LU-SGS Scheme

Due to improvements in computational resources, interest has recently increased in using implicit scheme for solving flow equations on 3D unstructured grids. However, most of the implicit schemes produce greater numerical diffusion error than their corresponding explicit schemes. This stems from the fact that in linearizing implicit fluxes, it is conventional to replace the Jacobian matrix in t...

The work focuses on the development of a 2D quadrilateral element based Spectral Difference solver for viscous flow calculations, and the application of the p-multigrid method and implicit time-stepping to accelerate convergence. This paper extends the previous work by Liang et al (2009) on the p-multigrid method for 2D inviscid compressible flow, to viscous flows. The high-order spectral diffe...

Efficient Implicit Non-linear LU-SGS Approach for Compressible Flow Computation Using High-Order Spectral Difference Method

An implicit non-linear lower-upper symmetric Gauss-Seidel (LU-SGS) solution algorithm has been developed for a high-order spectral difference Navier-Stokes solver on unstructured hexahedral grids. The non-linear LU-SGS solver is preconditioned by a block element matrix, and the system of equations is then solved with the LU decomposition approach. The large sparse Jacobian matrix is computed nu...
